I actually took this image yesterday, so I'm a day late posting this one. This was a long exposure, 13 seconds, using a polarizer and a neutral density filter that used a zoom during the exposure. I was thinking of photography capturing a particular moment and how life is made of many moments that flow together. I wanted to try to grab something of the fluidity of time, as I am working with in my fire series, and apply it to a traditional landscape. It left me with a haunted feeling that I can't quite put into words. I just know that I liked the effect and am going to have to explore this more i
Life persists. We just had our first sleet of the year a couple of days ago and today I found this little guy flying around a couple of plants that still have flowers in our butterfly garden. Even after the cold and the sleet life that is usually considered fragile is still flourishing all around us. Just amazing.

So, this is blogging. This is my first attempt at blogging so I'm not really sure what I am doing or how it will go. My original thought for this blog was to do a photo a day project for 2013 but I am going to be honest with myself and know that I can't promise to do that. Though I am going to try. So, here's the first one....
I was starting the morning off by doing a little journaling, getting wrapped up in what the year might bring and if I could muster the energies to change the things I wanted to change. Generally, getting a little down on myself. That's when Brooklyn, one of our two most recent rescues came and joined my at the desk. He tends to know when to show up and what to do to lighten the mood.
There, that wasn't too bad. If you are reading this, I hope I haven't bored you. If you have any questions about my photography or photography in general please ask.
I hope you have a safe, prosperous and joyful 2013.
